Internship - OFFERED annually

We are seeking a motivated student to join our team for the summer (or longer). We offer a paid internship that provides guided, real-world experience working in a private Landscape Architecture firm, with instruction and training from our experienced designers. Typically, the internships last 3-4 months and have previously been held by undergraduate students in Landscape Architecture who are nearing graduation.

Expectations for this role include:

  • Assist with production graphics, design, research materials, develop construction documents and project deliverables

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to take initiative with strong problem solving skills

  • Ability to take direction and complete tasks in a timely manner

  • Confidence to ask questions or ask for help or instruction when needed

  • Periodically attend project meetings

  • Accompany designers on site visits; help take notes, measurements and photos

  • 40 hours per week in-office time commitment

Requirements for this role:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Landscape Architecture (or closely related field) at an accredited University

  • Basic skill level in AutoCAD - familiarity with LandFX is a plus

  • Experience with Adobe Suite programs: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite programs: Word, Excel, Outlook

Landscape Architect / Designer

Mader Design is looking to meet talented Landscape Architects and Graduate Designers with experience in our parks and institutional markets along with a desire to learn, grow, and make an impact while helping design, produce, and lead projects looking to join our laid-back, growing landscape architecture practice.

We seek a collaborative personality with experience in institutional/public site design and master planning projects seeking opportunities for professional growth. Our exciting, diverse project types include parks & recreation, healthcare, religious, community/civic, and education site design.

Candidates should possess strong organizational, design, and communication skills including effective collaboration with coworkers, clients, consultants, and contractor project teams; the ability to coordinate project processes and work in a team environment; and a willingness to learn.

 Expectations for this role include:

  • Apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills

  • Work on multiple projects with multiple clients concurrently and adjust to dynamic project needs

  • Build relationships through communications with internal team, clients, consultants, and contractors

  • Coordinate projects in conjunction with senior staff

  • Produce graphics, design, research materials, develop construction documents and project deliverables

  • Take initiative with strong problem solving skills

  • Actively engage in opportunities in professional organizations and civic or community activities

Required skills include:

  • Candidates shall be Licensed or hold a degree in Landscape Architecture on track to licensure, with experience in site planning and design projects

  • Developing experience in project design, construction detailing, specification writing, and construction administration

  • Strong collaboration and organization with proven ability to successfully participate in multidisciplinary design teams

  • Excellent verbal and written communication to effectively communicate with a variety of professional staff, clients, and project partners

  • Proficiency in site design, and growing knowledge of construction materials and techniques

  • Planting design experience in institutional and parks settings, with a focus on native plants

  • In depth experience with software including AutoCAD/LandFX, Adobe graphics products, Sketchup, Bluebeam Revu, and Microsoft Office Suite

  • Knowledge of IT is a plus
