Retreat on Washington

Mader Design was engaged by the developer to provide landscape and hardscape design services for their new senior living facility at the Central State site. Working with the developer’s architect and engineer, we provided hardscape concepts for useable outdoor spaces for the residents, including gathering areas, dining spaces, recreation spaces. Utilizing colored concrete, the plaza engaged the street corner, and through decorative fencing and low masonry plinths, the outdoor activity space was created. A community garden was developed for residents to grow and care for flowers, herbs, and vegetables, along with access to the apples and peaches from the permanent fruit trees planted in the garden. The landscape design incorporated native plants throughout and provided a nice setting, reflecting the design of the buildings and the ongoing development in the vicinity.
