Greenwood City Center Park

In an effort to revitalize the downtown area, the first step by the City of Greenwood was to develop a new universally accessible park at the site of their recently demolished City Pool.

Working closely with the City’s park, engineering and planning departments, Mader Design developed the design and construction documentation. The park includes the City’s first splash pad, 2 fully-accessible playgrounds, one each for ages 2 – 5 and 5 – 12, a picnic shelter, restrooms, sledding hill, 2 raingardens, donor paver plaza, parking lot and a redeveloped basketball court. A network of sidewalks and trails connect each amenity with opportunities to link into the existing broader Greenwood trail system.

Mader Design was involved in the selection of site furnishings and materials as we assisted the City and contractor throughout the construction period, especially when sod was donated from the temporary soccer fields for the professional tournament held at Lucas Oil Stadium. We assisted with feasibility and logistical advice as the sod became available in the midst of construction activities.
