Beckenholdt Park
Mader Design was enlisted by the Greenfield Park Department in the fall of 2009 to update a park master plan for Beckenholdt Park anticipating the donation of 30 additional acres to the existing park. The resulting master plan focused on family, education, and environment and resulted in a phased plan with graphics and imagery to build support from the Park Board, Mayor, and the Community. The plan was key in obtaining a Land & Water Conservation Fund Grant through IDNR.
With the LWCF Grant and TIF Funding in place Mader Design was hired to lead the design and construction documents processes. During project budgeting, we helped the Department find additional available funding through their Impact Fee fund to help achieve the master plan’s vision. The project includes over 1 mile of new asphalt trails, over 600 feet of boardwalk trough preserved wetlands, 12 acres of prairie restoration, and 17 acres of woodland restoration. The project also includes parking, an outdoor classroom/amphitheater, interpretive signage, and permanent restrooms. The ribbon cutting was held for the new facilities in the spring of 2012.
